Have you completed an STCW course on the platform and it is showing a pending certificate on your account? This is the solution for you!

The user is asked to upload Personal Verification after he finishes one of the courses that require webcam access. It is a way for us to verify the identity of the user that is taking STCW courses. We review your ID documentation and compare the ID with images taken with the webcam during the tests. The information is also used when maritime administrations check the authenticity of your certificate.

What do I need in submitting Personal Verification?

A clear picture of a government-issued document/ID is needed. It can either be your Driver's License, Passport, Seaman's Book, or National Identity Card. The document needs to state the Government (Issuing Country), Full name, Date of Birth, Date of Expiry, and ID Number. See the below photo as an example:

*Note: This expired ID is only used for example purposes and has hidden crucial information.*

To complete the verification, a photo of yourself is needed so we can match the picture on your ID. You can submit either a selfie or a portrait of yourself that is not the same picture used in your document.

How to submit Personal Verification?

You can either submit personal verification via Browser or the Mobile App. Below is a step-by-step guideline on the process of submission for both.

    • Take photos using the camera on this device - this will allow you to take real-time pictures of your document and a selfie using your device camera.

    • Upload an image from this device - here you can upload the pictures of your document and a selfie that is saved on your device. This is only available if you are on a browser.

  • And lastly, you need to take a photo of yourself or upload your selfie/portrait. Follow the guidelines for taking a selfie, centre yourself within the circle, and should clearly show your face. If you are trying to upload a photo, a square format or 4:3 size is highly recommended.

Review your photo and make sure that photo is sharp, the lighting is good, and matches the person on the ID.
